Douglas G. Mercier has extensive litigation and business experience, and enjoys helping clients with their legal problems. Mr. Mercier has successfully obtained multimillion dollar jury verdicts and settlements for his clients during the course of his legal career. Likewise, Mr. Mercier has also successfully defended many clients, both individuals and businesses, from adverse judgments in litigated matters.

Mr. Mercier received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College School of Law, and upon receiving his law degree, he served as Law Clerk to the Supreme Court of Mississippi. After his clerkship, he practiced for a law firm as an associate attorney where he solely practiced litigation for the defense. Later, he served as corporate counsel for Interhealth, Inc., a national healthcare provider, but he returned to a litigation practice in Jackson. Mr. Mercier’s broad areas of practice have included: business litigation; personal injury litigation; corporate law; consumer fraud; medical malpractice; insurance coverage opinions; pollution liability; commercial transactions; commercial litigation; environmental law; toxic tort litigation; professional liability law; products liability; property and casualty litigation; product design liability; commercial automobile/trucking accident litigation; premises liability; insurance bad faith litigation; healthcare law; elder law matters; corporate contractual compliance; employment law; corporate regulatory and statutory compliance; appellate practice; complex litigation; oil and gas law; and representation of not-for-profit organizations.

Mr. Mercier is a native of Jackson, Mississippi, and a resident of Madison, Mississippi. He is married to the former Becky Dearman, with two children, William Felder and Rebecca Myers with whom he enjoys spending his time. He is also an active member of the Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church, and takes pleasure in playing golf, tennis, and hunting for recreation.
